Ahoy captain! If you were looking for a serious pirate ship with some serious fun, look no further than the High Seas Galleon Pirate Ship Playhouse! This wooden ship has 400 square feet of total play space that'll have kids grabbing their parrots and itching for their next adventure.

This 11x34 structure contains a total of four stories with nine ways to enter and exit the pirate ship, including room for two slides, gang plank and fireman's pole.  A center mast with a interactive crow's nest tops the play-set at a total height of 13' off the ground.  Two rear ladders allow for a quick escape if the waters start to become too rough.  This boat has it all and then some.

No child will be able to resist the call of piracy and plunder.  With all the cool ways to interact with this large class pirate ship, this play-set really becomes the king of backyard projects! If you can yield a circular saw, you can build this! If you think the full size pirate ship is a bit too big for your requirements, we also have a medium ship and a small pirateship too.  Arrghhh!

Pride of the Park

The plans were perfect, no errors and very easy to understand. I’ve been a cabinetmaker for 40 years so I built the whole thing in my shop as component sections then transported them to the building site and assembled them on a concrete slab. The entire process took me 222 hours. The plans allowed for a great deal of flexibility as I modified them to add additional features and to make the ship into separate parts for later assembly. The playhouse is now the pride of the Park with children using it every day.

The plans were incredibly easy to follow. I was able to make the ship (with minimal help, mostly for the siding of the ship) in about 100 man hours. I made the ship up on cinder blocks so the ship is not directly in the dirt and therefore had to adjust the ladders and gang plank. I was able to find some of the slides second hand and was able to save a few hundred bucks. Just make sure that the slides are meant for the height needed if you raise the ship off the ground. Next year season, we are going to get blue rubber mulch to make it look like the ship is truly on the "high seas". We were able to get the ship made in time for my daughters b-day party (turning 8 and 9) and both of them and their friends absolutely loved it!!

Pros - Excellent depiction of the steps and explanation of the steps. Recommend that you print out the entire plans and put them in a binder. I was able to keep my plans on my work table during the 18 days of building next to my other tools.

Cons - The trap doors, only due to their construction, really "slam" open and close. My fear is losing some little fingers. I have looked for and unsuccessfully found some kind of "soft close" outdoor, heavy duty hinges. Ideally, hinges that only open 105 degrees then have a soft close.
Con - The plans call for a hull of about 4'6" head height. My oldest (9 y/o) is already 4'4" so I made some changes to the hull and captains quarters but was easy enough to make those changes on the fly.

Over all, great plans!!
